There’s nothing better than getting to spend a beautiful day outdoors. Spend your sunny weekends exploring some of these Downtown spots:
Spend a day at the park
Founders Park brings an urban playground to the center of Downtown Springfield. Named for being located where Springfield was founded, Founders Park offers several historical markers that help to tell the story of Springfield as it has grown.
The park also hosts several events over spring and summer, including a lunchtime Founders Park Concert Series and Movies at Founders Park. The best part? Both are free to the public!
Check out the Art Walk
Delight in those long summer nights out in the heart of Downtown during the First Friday Art Walk. Purchase a new art piece for the home, enjoy free admission from the History Museum on the Square or browse the new additions to the Springfield Sculpture Walk.
Wanting to experience Art Walk a little earlier in the day? Stop by for Second Saturday, which goes from 12 – 5 PM. You’ll get all of the fun of Art Walk with a more laid-back vibe.
Get your goods at the C Street Market
Looking to grab some local fare without going too far? Swing by the C Street Market for locally grown foods that are sure to please those at your dinner table. If you’re not needing a meal, don’t fret – the C Street Market has goods like soaps, handmade greeting cards, and other gifts to share with the loved ones in your life.
Visit the market every Saturday from 9 AM – 2 PM or on Thursday from 4 – 8 PM for some great Springfield-made goods!
Rain, rain, go away
As the saying goes, April showers bring May flowers, but when it comes to Missouri weather, those April showers often overstay their welcome. If you get rained out, here’s some ways to have fun and beat the storms:
Catch a flick
One of the best ways to avoid a day outside in the rain is to spend it inside with a good movie. Lucky for you, downtown Springfield has two movie theatres for you to enjoy! Check out a movie at the independent Moxie Cinema, or visit the Regal College Station Stadium and have a great film experience without going far.
Have a laugh at a show
If the rain has your spirits down, brighten up your day with a trip to one of the improv shows around Downtown Springfield. Springfield Improv offers plenty of shows for you to enjoy on a dreary day, or check out the newly opened Monk’s Social Club for great comedy and live podcast recordings.
Do some spring cleaning for your style
Start off the season with some new fashions for your closet with the local boutiques in Downtown Springfield. Ever wanted to sip a drink while trying on dresses? Lush at Bartique has a full bar and plenty of styles for you to choose from. Or, if you’re interested in some of the hottest trends in town, stop in at Envy Boutique for a wide selection of skirts, shirts, shoes and more.
